A recent systematic review (JMIR, Cohen et al. 2023) found that patients who used digital tools demonstrated a better understanding of clinical trial information compared to those using traditional paper-based methods. Building on these findings, the Castor team has been exploring how early engagement with trial participants through an AI enabled chatbot; Castor Companion, can enhance both comprehension and satisfaction.
In this month’s video, Derk walks us through this internal experiment where Castor Companion was used during the consent process, resulting in significantly increased engagement and understanding among participants. He also discusses how we need to think about the next steps of integrating such AI technologies into clinical trials.
